Tretinoin, the retinoid your skin uses directly
Retinol and retinal have to be converted in your skin before they do anything, and some strength is lost at each step. Tretinoin is the active form of vitamin A, so it gets to work straight away.
Speeds up cell turnover
Old, dull skin cells shed faster, so they can't build up and clog your pores.
Clears and renews
Pores stay clear, dark marks fade, and new collagen builds beneath the surface.
Visibly better skin
Fewer breakouts, a more even tone and softer lines, building over 8 to 12 weeks.
Found in most over-the-counter serums. Gentle but slow, and much of it is lost before it becomes active.
One step closer, and faster than retinol, but still needs to be converted by your skin.
The active form of vitamin A. No conversion and no strength lost, which is why it works at such low percentages.

Find your strengthWhich strength is right for me?
Pick by what you want to change and how your skin handles actives. Gentle (0.025%) is the starting dose and suits sensitive or dry skin, maintenance and anti-ageing for most people. Clarify (0.05%) is for skin used to retinoids, and is common for acne and stronger photoageing treatment. Renew (0.1%) is for stubborn acne, oily or tolerant skin and deeper sun damage; it has the highest irritation and often isn't needed. No strength is better than another; each is made for a different job.
Can I switch strengths later?
Yes. Skin changes with seasons, age and the rest of your routine. If your concerns change, switch to the strength that fits. There's no need to work your way up to 0.1%; many people stay on 0.025% or 0.05% for good. Give any strength 8 weeks before judging results.
Is there a right age to start?
No. Tretinoin helps at any age. In your teens and 20s it clears breakouts and keeps pores clear. From your 30s on it softens lines, evens tone and keeps skin firm. Choose your strength by what your skin needs, not by your age.
Can I use it with vitamin C or exfoliants?
Use vitamin C in the morning and this cream at night. Keep exfoliants and benzoyl peroxide to separate nights while you're building tolerance.
Is it safe during pregnancy?
No. Do not use tretinoin if you are pregnant, trying to conceive or breastfeeding. Talk to your doctor before using any vitamin A derivative.
Will my skin purge?
Some people see extra breakouts in the first 2 to 6 weeks as tretinoin brings clogged pores to the surface. This settles as your skin adjusts. If you have severe or lasting irritation, stop using it and speak to a doctor or pharmacist.
Does it make my skin sensitive to the sun?
Yes. Tretinoin makes skin more sensitive to UV. Use it only at night, wear SPF 50 every morning and avoid tanning.
Why is the cream yellow?
Tretinoin gives the cream a pale yellow tint, and all three strengths look identical. Check the percentage on the label to tell them apart. The airless, light-proof tube keeps it from oxidising.
Are there any hidden fees?
No. You pay the price shown, and shipping is free on orders over $50. Subscriptions can be skipped or cancelled anytime.
What if it doesn't suit me?
Return it within 30 days, even if opened, for a full refund. You can also swap to a different strength free of charge.
